Knowing What to Expect When Using Car Movers

Most people are not familiar with the steps involved in shipping an automobile. Well that’s about to change. There are some things that you should be aware of. Comparison shopping in the area is just as important as with any other purchase. You do not want to be paying more than the standard rate.

Before you ship your vehicle anywhere there are a few steps you need to take first. You should make sure that any personal items are not left in the vehicle and deactivate all alarms. Insurance does not cover the loss of personal items left in cars being transported. Speaking of insurance, make sure to request a copy of the insurance information that will cover your car while in transport for your records in case the unthinkable should happen. Remove any specialty pieces and all electronic devices (i.e. GPS systems, pricey radios, etc.). Remember to leave only about ¼ tank of gas in the car because a full tank will add additional weight. Be very sure to have all of the necessary documentation such as vehicle paperwork and related information.

After you have gotten your transport rate most companies will want you to make a deposit. Once that is complete you are then given shipping date and a driver will come to pick up your vehicle making a complete inspection for documentation on the Bill of Lading. The Bill of Lading should be sign by both you and the driver confirming any damages or lack there off of the vehicle. The shipper will also receive a copy of the Bill of Lading and it will follow your vehicle to final destination. Delivery arrangement s will be made and a re-inspection will be made once the vehicle reaches its final destination. The process fro delivery is the same as it was for pick up; the receiver of the vehicle will need to sign and agree to the condition of the vehicle by signature on the Bill of Lading. The receiver is required to pay any fees associated with the delivery that were not pre paid usually in the form of a cashier’s check or cash. Make sure that any cashier check is made out to the carrier and not the delivery driver or any other entity.

Car transporting can be tricky; it is never easy to move such a large valuable item from one place to another of considerable distance. But auto transporters will save you the trouble of having to drive your vehicle for long distances. Other reasons make moving your car using car transport service a necessary evil. Whatever the reason, every precaution should be taken to protect your wallet and keep damage to the car at minimal levels. If you do any overhauling of the car to prevent leaks or other maintenance problems before hand, worry will be minimized greatly. Keep in mind there are still other alternatives to using car transporters or driving the car yourself. If you are an adventurous person you might choose to use the drive-away service. This is when you pass the hassle of driving your car yourself to a driver who will transport your car by driving it to the destination of your choice. Security measures are taken to ensure that the drivers are fingerprinted and tested for their driving ability prior to handling any vehicle. However, most people would rather have professionals make the necessary trip for them through full servicing. That would be my recommendation.
